A compact vital signs monitor and a bedside multiparameter patient monitor can both display patient measurements, but they may be designed for different clinical workflows. Buyers should start with the intended location, patient groups and measurements—not screen size or the number of sockets visible in a photograph.
This guide helps facilities in Uganda and South Sudan prepare a model-specific enquiry. The clinical team must define the monitoring requirement, and the supplier should confirm every parameter, accessory and option in writing.
Start with the intended clinical workflow
State whether the device is for periodic observations, triage, consultation rooms, recovery, a ward bedside or another approved use. Record whether staff need a single reading, repeated measurements, trend review or continuous waveform monitoring. Do not assume a portable device and a bedside monitor serve the same purpose.
Ask the clinical lead to specify adult, paediatric or neonatal use and the number of beds or assessment points. Patient category affects cuffs, probes, alarm limits and other accessories, so “one monitor” is not a complete specification.
Compare the parameters, not the product names
Exper lists a digital vital signs monitor described for non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP), oxygen saturation (SpO2) and pulse rate. Its Leytemed multiparameter patient monitor listing describes ECG, heart rate, SpO2, NIBP, respiratory rate and temperature. Confirm the exact model, enabled parameters and supplied accessories because configurations can vary.
The WHO emergency supplies catalogue describes one common multiparameter configuration with ECG, NIBP, SpO2, respiratory rate and temperature sensors. It also lists variants without ECG and higher configurations with additional parameters, showing why buyers should request a parameter-by-parameter schedule rather than rely on the word “multiparameter.” Review the WHO catalogue as a planning reference, not as a substitute for the quoted model's manual.
Specify display, alarms and trend requirements
- Required numerical values and waveforms.
- Audible and visual alarms for each enabled parameter.
- Who may adjust alarm limits and how settings are protected.
- Trend duration, event review and patient-data storage.
- Visibility from the normal staff position and night-time use.
Request a demonstration using the same configuration being quoted. Confirm what happens when a sensor is disconnected, a cuff measurement fails, the battery is low or power is interrupted.
Build the accessory package by patient group
List cuff sizes, SpO2 sensors, ECG lead sets and electrodes, temperature probes, extension cables and any respiratory accessories separately. Ask which items are reusable, single-patient or consumable and record their part numbers. WHO planning examples for multiparameter monitoring bundle the monitor with multiple cuff sizes, probes, cables, electrodes and a spare battery; the required quantities should be based on the facility's workload and infection-prevention policy.
Use our patient-monitor accessories checklist to identify commonly omitted items. If biomedical staff will verify monitor performance, also review the patient-monitor simulator buying guide.
Confirm power, battery and data options
Ask for the input-power requirement, plug type, battery chemistry, quoted operating time under stated conditions, charging time and replacement-battery part number. If a printer, central station, network interface, USB export or other data feature is required, state it explicitly and request compatible supplies or software.
For delivery outside Kampala, include the destination and expected power conditions. The quotation should distinguish the base monitor from optional modules, printer, trolley, wall mount, central monitoring or networking work.
Approve cleaning and support before ordering
Request manufacturer cleaning instructions for the enclosure, display, cables, probes and cuffs. The facility's infection-prevention team should confirm which accessories may move between patients and how they will be reprocessed. Do not apply a disinfectant until compatibility and contact instructions have been checked.
Ask for warranty scope, preventive-maintenance guidance, software or password access, spare parts, accessory lead times and the agreed handover checks. At receiving, verify the model label, parameters, alarm behaviour, battery, supplied accessories and documents against the quotation.

Send the clinical area, monitoring workflow, patient groups, required parameters, quantities, accessory list, power conditions and destination. Browse patient monitoring equipment, then contact Exper Medical Network on +256 756 789 821 or info.brandexper@gmail.com. Current model, configuration, availability, price, warranty and delivery scope will be confirmed in writing.
