An operating table may look fully equipped in a catalogue photograph, yet the quotation may cover only the base table. For a theatre buying in Uganda or arranging delivery to South Sudan, an itemised accessory schedule helps prevent a missing clamp, pad or support from delaying the planned service.
Build the list around your procedures
Ask the theatre lead to identify the procedures and positioning requirements the table must support. Convert those requirements into a list for the supplier rather than requesting a vague “complete set”. Depending on the clinical team's requirements, questions may concern arm supports, leg supports, headrests, restraint accessories, anaesthetic screens or imaging extensions. These are examples for discussion, not a universal clinical equipment list.
Separate items needed immediately from options for a later phase. For every option, ask whether adding it later needs a different table configuration, adapter or software feature. Record the exact proposed table model alongside the accessory list.
Ask for a complete attachment chain
A support is not necessarily supplied with its clamp, and a tabletop extension may be offered with or without a pad. Request a line for each component: accessory name, manufacturer, part number, quantity, mounting hardware, cushion or cover, and any storage equipment.
For paired items, write “two individual supports” or “one pair” explicitly. Ask the supplier to identify everything required to mount and use the accessory in the approved configuration. This makes competing quotations easier to compare using our quotation-comparison guide.
Verify compatibility and loading limits together
Do not assume similar-looking rails or clamps are interchangeable. If purchasing for an existing table, send its manufacturer, model, serial number and clear photographs of the relevant connection. Request written compatibility confirmation and the applicable instructions for use.
Manufacturer documentation shows why this matters. The STERIS imaging-extension page lists different accessory versions, compatible table models and patient-weight limits that vary with the table and slide position. This is a model-specific example; its specifications must not be applied to another manufacturer's equipment, and it does not indicate Exper stocks that accessory.
Ask for the limits that apply to the complete proposed configuration, including any restrictions on orientation, movement or extension use. Have the clinical and biomedical teams review them before accepting the package. A single headline capacity for the base table is not enough to resolve every accessory configuration.
Confirm imaging and room access
If intraoperative imaging is planned, describe the imaging system and required access. Ask the supplier to demonstrate the proposed table-and-accessory arrangement against the manufacturer's documentation. Include the table base, controls, attachments and available room space in that discussion; the word “radiolucent” alone does not establish that the whole intended workflow will fit.
Agree who will check the layout and any interfaces with other theatre equipment. Our operating-theatre equipment page provides an enquiry route for the full equipment list.
Include care, storage and replacement parts
Request cleaning and disinfection instructions for each pad, strap and support. Confirm which components can be removed, which agents are compatible and how worn parts are replaced. Ask for part numbers and pricing for likely replacements rather than assuming that all pads or clamps are generic.
Plan storage so accessories stay identifiable and protected between uses. At handover, count components against the accepted schedule and arrange model-specific instruction for the staff who attach, inspect and clean them. Document any missing items before closing acceptance.
Send an accessory-specific enquiry
Send Exper your table model or new-table requirements, procedure list, accessory quantities, imaging needs and delivery destination. For Juba orders, agree whether assembly and staff handover occur before dispatch or at the receiving facility; see our delivery and handover checklist.
